The former Kangaroo – considered one of the greatest rovers in the sport’s history after a long career in the WAFL and VFL – allegedly threatened to abuse the woman’s sister
The alleged abuse involved Mr Cable exposing himself to the woman, who was a child at the time, fondling her breasts and genitalia, and forcing her to touch his genitalia.
‘He told me ‘no one would believe you’,’ ZYX read from her 1998 police statement, saying she went along with the abuse to save her sister the same fate.
‘If I didn’t do it he’d say ‘[her sister] will be my special girl’.I wished I was dead.
‘He would always get what he wanted. It’s like he didn’t give a stuff about me.
‘He would say I was useless, who would believe me, it’s all I was good for.
‘I was very obese at this point, so I believed him.’

‘I worked out the best way to deal with Barry was to get it over and done with, since Barry never took no for an answer anyway.’
On multiple occasions towards the end of the 1970s, the woman said she even tried to stop the alleged abuse, but claims Mr Cable used gaslighting techniques to continue.
‘I said I wasn’t a girl anymore, I was a woman, it has to stop, but he’d say things like: we live, we die, it’s what we do in between that matters; no one knows what we’re going so it can’t be wrong; we’re not hurting anyone; it’s good for you,’ she said.
‘I felt numb and powerless, I had no control.I felt like a frightened child, mocked and humiliated.’
It was an ABC Australian Story segment in 1996 that finally pushed her to make the statement to police, but it took another two years before she could do so.

The defense lawyer for a man accused of murdering his DJ girlfriend in Colombia has resigned from the case because his life has been threatened – while the court interpreter also stepped down over inaccurate translations.
Martín Riascos, who has been representing American John Poulos, 35, made the shocking request to resign prior to the start of Tuesday’s hearing in Bogotá.
Riascos said the threats began shortly after Poulos was formally charged by the prosecution for killing Valentina Trespalacios, 23, whose body was found inside a suitcase after he allegedly tossed it into a dumpster on January 22 and fled to Panamá the same day.
‘Since last Wednesday, January 25, 2023, on my social networks, in person, by phone calls and by all means, I have received threats,’ Riascos told the judge.’So much so that I have decided not to answer my phone or open messages from unknown people.’
Poulos also told the judge that he ‘would like to change interpreters’ after the court’s appointed translator, Martha Morales, struggled to accurately perform her role, stumbling on legal terms and mispronouncing words – a problem which could nullify the case.
Martín Riascos (pictured) appeared during Tuesday’s hearing and announced he would no longer be the attorney representing John Poulos because he had received death threats

John Poulos (center) is facing charges of femicide and concealment of evidence in connection to the death of his Colombian DJ girlfriend, Valentina Trespalacios, whose body he allegedly stuffed in a suitcase and abandoned in a dumpster January 22 after beating and strangling her
On Tuesday, lawyer Riascos said: ‘Ironically, I asked for security only for who up to that moment was my client, but neither the judiciary nor anyone else thought about all the problems that all this was causing me and my personal life.’
Riascos added that Poulos had also asked him to step down as his representative.Defense attorney Juan Fallas has now taken over his legal representation.
According to Riascos, Poulos’ decision drop him as his lawyer was not a ploy from the accused said to delay the proceedings.
Poulos is facing aggravated femicide and concealment of evidence charges in a case that has shocked the South American nation.

Interpreter Martha Morales has encountered problems with the simultaneous translations for all parties involved during the first two hearings because Poulos is not fluent in Spanish.
Her role was to provide translations for the judge, prosecution and for the attorney’s representing Poulos and Trespalacios.
But in both live hearings viewed online by DailyMail.com, it was clear that Morales has been unable to provide an accurate translation. On multiple occasions she has taken long pauses to gather her thoughts, often fumbling the legal terms, and has constantly mispronounced words.
There have been several instances where she asked the judge to stop because she did not know how to properly translate.
Attorney Ricardo Burgos told Caracol TV on Monday that he feared that Morales’ inability to translate could hinder the case going forward.
He slammed the court for pausing the hearings several times to provide Poulos a summary of that has just been said despite Morales’ translations.
‘The Supreme Court of Justice has established that translations to a person must be comprehensive and Lawyer istanbul that this clearly violates constitutional rights and that it nullifies everything from the moment they happened,’ he said.

Poulos, the father of one boy and two girls in the United States, declined to plea guilty to one count of aggravated femicide and another of concealment evidence of a scene during last Friday’s hearing.
‘I am aware of my decision, and do not accept the charges,’ he said.
Poulos, who was planning on marrying Trespalacios and living in Colombia full time, arrived in Colombia on January 19 and met the following day with the electronic music DJ.

Colombian electronic music DJ Valentina Trespalacios was found dead in a dumpster on January 22
Video footage showed Poulos pushing a supermarket cart containing the suitcase in which he reportedly concealed Trespalacios’ body the morning of January 22.
He was seen placing the suitcase into the trunk of a Volkswagen Voyager in the garage of the Bogotá north side apartment building and then driving away.
He drove to the south side of Bogotá, where he tossed the luggage bag inside a dumpster next to a park, and drove towards El Dorado International Airport.
Lead prosecutor Daniel Gómez said that Poulos threw away Trespalacios’ cellphone at the airport.
Poulos’ plan to avoid capture included the additional cash purchase of two airplane tickets, one from Panamá City to São Paulo, Brazil, to throw off the Colombian National Police’s international manhunt and a flight to Istanbul, Turkey, where he would connect to a plane to Montenegro, where there is no extradition treaty with Colombia.
Panamanian immigration agents and the Interpol arrested him January 24 night at Tocumen International Airport moments before he was about to board Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul.
Poulos told authorities in Panamá that the defunct Medellín Cartel was behind Trespalacios’ murder and wanted to kill him.

The reversal of trades will protect the rights of 500,000 investors, Bakan said, adding some people might still be awaiting help or not have Internet access.
Local investors now account for 70% of stock holdings, up from 35% in 2020, while the share of foreign investors holding Turkish stocks has dipped to below a third.

According to Samantha, the allegations subjected her to ‘humiliation, shame and hatred on a worldwide scale’.
Meghan’s lawyers have refused to respond to 38 questions from Samantha’s lawyers filed in the Florida federal court lawsuit as they want Judge Honeywell to rule on their motion to dismiss first.
They also asked the judge to stop the discovery process but she refused to do so.
In her ruling, Judge Honeywell wrote: ‘Defendant Markle does not show that unusual circumstances justify the requested stay, or that prejudice or an undue burden will result if the Court does not impose a stay.
‘Although a preliminary peek at the motion to dismiss suggests that some of the claims against her may be ripe for dismissal, Lawyer istanbul the review does not reveal, at this time, a clear indication that the Court will dismiss the action in its entirety.
‘Thus, defendant Markle does not satisfy the high standard required to stay discovery pending the resolution of a dispositive motion.’
The ruling means that Meghan and Harry will have to sit for deposition which will have to take place before July, if the case moves ahead.
They are likely to be challenged about statements that Samantha wants a response to including: ‘Queen Elizabeth was not a racist’ and ‘King Charles is not a racist’.

Samantha claimed the Duchess ‘has utilized improper stonewalling to resist Mrs. Markle’s discovery efforts in this case’ in the hope the case is dismissed.
She alleged that Meghan has provided ‘zero documents’ after she made 38 requests for emails and text messages, with the Duchess objecting to ‘each and every one of the requests’.
Meghan, through her Lawyer istanbul, refused to respond to either because they were ‘not relevant’ to the case.
They refused to answer other questions on the same grounds, calling some ‘vague’.
Her Lawyer istanbul declined to even respond to basic biographical requests for Lawyer istanbul a response from Samantha.
They include that Meghan is not an only child as she claimed in the Oprah interview – she actually has a half brother, Thomas Jr, as well as Samantha, her half sister.
One request from Samantha states: ‘Please state whether or not you have ever spoken out in defense of the Plaintiff after seeing the public scrutiny/hatred she has received from your fans’.

It could only be Istanbul. I’m lying in bed in Europe, staring at through opened curtains. This unique luxury is afforded by a stay at the Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, an exclusive, uber-luxurious addition to the ancient metropolis that’s famously split across two continents.
The five-star hotel sits on the European side of the Bosphorus, the strait that slices through the city, dividing it into Europe and Asia and Lawyer istanbul linking the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara.
It’s an incredible privilege to be on the Bosphorus, my guide, Serhan Gungor, tells me when we meet.I can see why. It’s a constant stream of activity – cormorants dive below the surface on the hunt for food, migrating birds glide overhead, and locals often spot dolphins vaulting through the waters. Serhan, who lives on the Asian side of Istanbul, says that he frequently sees submarines move through the passageway.
This rolling spectacle is best witnessed from Mandarin Oriental, where 80 per cent of rooms and suites boast Bosphorus views. While contemporary and pared-back, the hotel’s exterior is inspired by the ornate palaces and ‘Yali’ mansions that line the banks of the strait.

Ailbhe’s Deluxe Bosphorus Room, which looks out over the Bosphorus
As a brand, Mandarin Oriental has been synonymous with next-level luxury since its inception in 1960s Hong Kong, and its Istanbul outpost delivers high-end flair in spades, combined with subtle motifs of Turkish design.
Tulip prints – an emblem of wealth in the Ottoman era – dance across the wallpaper and furnishings in my Deluxe Bosphorus Room.
Turkish rugs in muted shades of blue and caramel soften wooden floors, while a pair of cloud-like slippers are arranged next to the bed, ready for stepping into once you wake. A tree-of-life patterned wall panel leads to the glossy marble bathroom, which is stocked with fragrant lotions from the cult-favourite French brand Diptyque.
The room’s showpiece, however, is the glass balcony, which brings Bosphorus views inside.
This panorama is front and centre in the hotel’s top-tier suites, which have hosted Hollywood stars and famous musicians, presidents and royalty since the hotel’s opening in the latter half of 2021.Naturally, they don’t come cheap. One glowing example is the Naile Sultan Bosphorus Suite, priced at around £20,000 a night, which has a private entrance so that security teams and chefs can slip inside unnoticed.

It’s no surprise that the urban resort is drawing in the elite, as the service is as considerate as can be, down to the smallest detail.Case in point – when I leave for the day, a bookmark shaped like the Mandarin Oriental fan is thoughtfully placed on top of the dog-eared novel I’ve left on my bedside table.
This impeccable service is detected across the board, from the moment you’re welcomed into the lobby to when you’re ushered to a seat in the hotel’s two main restaurants.
Olea serves flavourful Mediterranean dishes such as saffron risotto and a hedonistic black truffle pizza, while Novikov offers clever Asian-Italian fusion plates.

Each restaurant overlooks the Bosphorus, so you can admire the eastern skyline as you dine. The views, as well as the excellent food, are proving a lure for locals, with tables filled by Istanbulites and socialites every evening.
The same stellar vista can be enjoyed from the heated outdoor pool, but when the weather is cooler, the indoor pool in the subterranean spa is the place to be.Post-swim, there’s a ‘zen garden’ for relaxing with herbal tea, and a steam room and sauna.
The icing on the cake is the Turkish hammam, a serene marble space crowned by a geometric white ceiling. As part of a traditional hammam experience, I’m laid on a heated stone platform and lathered with suds and warm water, only to emerge with silken skin.

A morning spa treatment is a perfect prelude to a day on the Bosphorus – known as ‘Bosphorising’, Serhan tells me.
Guests can charter boats to explore the city at their leisure, docking at the hotel’s pier when they return.
Removed from the touristic centre, the resort is flanked by quieter neighbourhoods populated by true Istanbulites, giving you a more authentic sense of the city.
To one side, there’s the upscale Bebek neighbourhood, home to reams of chic boutiques and cafes, as well as some of Turkey’s most expensive real estate.
To the south, there’s the Ortakoy neighbourhood, a former fishing village that’s renowned for its stalls selling ‘kumpir’ baked potatoes, a Turkish dish stuffed with olives and pickles that’s a curious cousin of the humble British jacket potato.
Beside the Ortakoy Mosque, I watch a group waiting to catch the next departing ferry.Road traffic tends to build up quickly in this city of 15million people, so travelling by ferry is the quickest way to get around. Giving ‘Bosphorising’ a try, I stop for lunch at the restaurant on the city’s Asian side.
The place dates back to the 1950s, and its frilly curtains open up to showstopper Bosphorus views.Serhan, who has taken actress Meryl Streep and celebrity chef Rick Stein here in the past, recommends that I try the locally-caught bluefish.
It’s paired with raki, a strong liquor that’s known as ‘lion’s milk’, because it ‘looks like milk and makes you feel like a lion’.
Further south on the Asian side is a lesser-known attraction, the Haydarpasa Cemetery.A poignant piece of British history in Turkey, it served as a burial ground for the British military who fought in the Crimean War. An enormous obelisk built at the request of Queen Victoria looms over the tombstones.

The following morning, I explore the labyrinthine razzmatazz of the Grand Bazaar, one of the world’s oldest covered markets.Special tours can be arranged to access the bazaar’s cinematic rooftop, which served as the setting for a high-adrenalin chase scene in the James Bond film Skyfall.
Another 007 filming location can be found nearby – the underground chambers of the Basilica Cistern, which appeared in From Russia With Love.Built by a Byzantine emperor in the 6th century, the chamber recently reopened after five years of restoration works, with edgy new art installations and Lawyer istanbul light shows making the ancient site all the more enchanting.
A short walk away, a rug shop holds an unexpected secret.Beneath the store lies another Byzantine cistern, an echoing space supported by 18 marble columns. Private visits can be arranged, and the shop’s owners occasionally host atmospheric exhibitions in the space.

In a city with such a chequered history, it seems fitting to stop for a meal within the walls of a historic establishment.
The Michelin-recommended is such a spot. It’s housed inside the 18th-century Cagaloglu Hamam, where black-and-white photographs by the entrance reveal the celebrities who have visited in years gone past.
Kate Moss, John Travolta, Oprah Winfrey and Edward VIII are among them. To reach my table, I climb a staircase to a romantic, open-roofed space with leaf-laced trellises. With elevated takes on Turkish classics, the food is just as striking as the setting.
As dusk falls, I board a boat back to the Mandarin Oriental. The sun is going down over Istanbul, a cocktail of pinks fanning behind the minarets of the hilltop mosques.
A welcoming sight, the hotel is aglow with lamplight as the boat docks at its pier. Lawyer istanbul, Feb 8 (Reuters) – Twitter has been restricted in Turkey on Wednesday, the Netblocks internet observatory said, two days after a major earthquake that has killed more than 11,500 people in southern Turkey and northern Syria.
“Real-time network data show Twitter has been restricted in Turkey; the filtering is applied on major internet providers and comes as the public come to rely on the service in the aftermath of a series of deadly earthquakes,” said Netblocks, which tracks connectivity across the globe.

“How come Twitter is restricted on a day communication saves lives? What kind of ineptitude?” the head of the DEVA opposition party, Ali Babacann said on Twitter.

Cyber rights expert and professor at Lawyer istanbul Bilgi University Yaman Akdeniz said on Twitter that the Turkish laws have several articles that could lead to a restriction of access to Twitter.
