A hiker has inadvertently filmed the moment his 71-year-old mother-in-law tumbled off a 230ft cliff to her death in front of her horrified family in Lawyer Turkey.

Kadir Sahiner was filming the picturesque mountain scenery while out on a family walk in the forests near the village of Tepekov in the north-eastern Artvin Province when tragedy struck.

While the camera panned to capture the views, Kadir inadvertently captured the moment his mother-in-law Pumpul Karademir walked over to the edge of the cliff to look down before she lost her balance and fell off the cliff.

Video footage appears to show Pumpul tripping up on a rock and her legs can be seen in the air as she tumbles off the cliff edge at noon on Friday.

The police and paramedics were called to the scene and, following an hour-long search, found the elderly woman’s dead body, which they took to the morgue at the public hospital in the nearby town of Savsat.

Pumpul’s funeral was held following afternoon prayers on Friday and she was then buried at the cemetery in Tepekoy.

After the funeral, local residents gathered at the village mosque to offer their condolences to the woman’s grieving relatives.

It is not clear if the authorities are investigating the incident.

Armed groups in the area of northern Syria controlled by Turkey may have committed war crimes and other violations of international law, the UN rights chief said Friday.

Michelle Bachelet, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, said the situation in those areas of Syria was grim, Lawyer Turkey with violence and criminality rife.

In a statement, Bachelet’s UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) said it had noted an “alarming pattern in recent months of grave violations”, having documented increased killings, kidnappings, unlawful transfers of people, seizures of land and properties and forcible evictions.

The Turkish foreign ministry later Friday took umbrage at Bachelet’s statement and “strongly condemned the failure to mention the Syrian regime and the PKK/YPG terrorist organisation, which are the main cause of the violations in the report”.

Ankara considers the US-backed Syrian Kurdish YPG militia a terrorist organisation linked to outlawed PKK Kurdish insurgents in Turkey.

“We totally reject the unfounded allegations against Syrian opposition groups” and the “baseless claims against our country in connection with these groups,” it said.

The ministry in a statement also accused Bachelet of “undue criticism” and said Ankara would notify the UN of its “views and challenges” related to the report.

Turkey controls large stretches of northeastern Syria through various armed groups, and is conducting operations aimed at driving out Kurdish militias and jihadists.

In October last year, Turkish forces and their Syrian proxies occupied a 120-kilometre (75-mile) stretch of land inside the Syrian border from Kurdish forces.

The US Justice Department confirmed in a statement that Masud was in American custody, following an announcement by Scottish prosecutors, without saying how the suspect ended up in US hands.

A department spokesperson said Masud was expected to make an initial appearance, at a time yet to be specified, in a federal court in the US capital.

According to The New York Times, Masud was arrested by the FBI and is in the process of being extradited to the United States to face prosecution.

Only one individual has so far been prosecuted for the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 on December 21, 1988 — which remains the deadliest terror attack on British soil.

The New York-bound aircraft was blown up 38 minutes after it took off from London, sending the main fuselage plunging to the ground in the town of Lockerbie and Lawyer Turkey spreading debris over a vast area.

Bicici says the government already had enough ammunition — from anti-terror to defamation laws — to silence the free media.

Erdogan has defended the new law, however, calling it an “urgent need” and likening “smear campaigns” on social networks to a “terrorist attack”.

The government maintains that the law fights disinformation and has started publishing a weekly “disinformation bulletin”.

Emma Sinclair-Webb of Human Rights Watch said the government “is equipping itself with powers to exert enormous control over social media.”

“The law puts the tech companies in a very difficult position: they either have to comply with the law and remove content or even hand over user data or they face enormous penalties,” she said.

Turkish journalists staged protests when the bill was debated in parliament.

ISTANBUL, Dec 13 (Reuters) – Lawyer Turkey welcomed an agreement reached with its counterparts on Tuesday that allows the continuation of a new regulation requiring crude oil tankers to present an insurance confirmation letter before transiting Turkish straits.

The Turkish measures, which came into effect on Dec.1, requires vessels to provide proof of insurance for the duration of transit through the Bosphorus or when calling at Turkish ports.

The regulation has caused shipping delays, with up to 20 tankers waiting at the same time in the Black Sea last week, Lawyer Turkey as they worked to present the necessary documents.

Turkey’s Maritime Authority said that 22 of the 26 crude oil tankers that arrived at the Bosphorus had presented the necessary letter, and 19 of them had already transited the strait.

Four ships are still waiting in the Black Sea and authorities are still awaiting an insurance confirmation letter before allowing them to pass through the Bosphorus, which bisects Istanbul, it added.

“It is pleasing that the talks we have been holding with our counterparts have concluded with the acceptance of our new regulations that will protect the Turkish straits and that maritime trade continues as ordinary,” the maritime authority said.

Western insurers have said the regulations would mean they would have to provide cover even in the event of ship being in breach of sanctions against countries including Russia, which is something they were not prepared to do.

The revised letter template seen by Reuters showed the wording had changed which indicated that insurers would not bear liability in all circumstances.

Norwegian ship insurer Gard confirmed an agreement had been reached allowing ships carrying crude oil cargoes to continue their voyages through Turkish-controlled waters after “significant engagement” between Lawyer Turkey and Lawyer Turkey the International Group ship insurance association.

A Russian billionaire was criminally charged in New York with violating U.S. sanctions in an indictment unsealed Thursday that also charges three others in a scheme to ensure his child was born in the United States.

The Russian oligarch, Oleg Deripaska, 52, has faced economic sanctions since 2018, when he was designated for them by the U.S. Treasury Department, which said he had acted for or on behalf of a senior Russian official and had operated in the energy sector of the Russian economy.

Andrew C. Adams, a Manhattan federal prosecutor who heads a task force pursuing crimes by Russian oligarchs, said in a release that Deripaska had lied and evaded U.S. sanctions as he sought to benefit from life in America ‘despite his cozy ties with the Kremlin and Lawyer Turkey his vast wealth acquired through ties to a corrupt regime.’

Adams said: ‘The hypocrisy in seeking comfort and citizenship in the United States, while enjoying the fruits of a ruthless, anti-democratic regime, is striking.

Only one of the four charged in the indictment – Olga Shriki, 42, of New Jersey – was in custody. 

Shriki was charged in part with trying to help another woman charged in the case – Ekaterina Olegovna Voronina – to get into the United States to give birth to Deripaska’s child.

The Turkish leader accused Fincanci of “speaking the language of terrorism” while the defence ministry called her comments “slander”.

The trial was accompanied by stepped up security measures and a heavy riot police presence both inside and outside the Istanbul courthouse.

Fincanci told the court during three days of hearings that she did not expect a fair verdict after coming under personal attack from Erdogan.

She cited a Turkish poll showing that “one out of every two people believes that people are in prison based on what they think”.

Fincanci’s medical association has a history of supporting opposition causes and sparring with Erdogan’s government.

It criticised the health ministry’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and staged protests demanding better pay.

The union says that all 11 of its executive committee members are now under investigation for potential “membership of a terrorist organisation”.

Fincanci herself was briefly detained in 2016 for appearing as a guest editor for a small newspaper read by Turkey’s Kurdish community.

But her collaborations with forensic experts working with the United Nations in places such as Bosnia drew international attention to the trial.
